GEN. KALEKYEZI - THE LAST LOG IN THE WAY FOR THE MUHOOZI PROJECT
CHANGE OF GUARDS - Muhoozi Project is a scheme by Uganda's military dictator, Museveni to have his son, Gen. Muhoozi inherit the presidency. The scheme came to light over a decade ago when then civilian Muhoozi embarked on illegally recruiting some people into the army. When Ugandans raised a red flag, Museveni arrogantly told them that his son was a member of the Local Defence Unit (LDU).
The next time Ugandans heard about Muhoozi, he was attending a Cadet Officer's course at Sandhurst in the UK. Since then, Museveni rushed his son through other military courses and rapid promotions to the rank of General. Muhoozi was also actively involved in the creation of a 10,000+ strong special unit (SFC) whose sole purpose is to keep Museveni in power. Muhoozi took command of this force until recently when Museveni tactfully made Muhoozi Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations. Gullible Ugandans credited Museveni for sacking his own son. Instead the truth is that Museveni covertly places Muhoozi at the helm of all the security forces. Since then, other than Gen. Kalekyezi who had direct access to Museveni, all the other security chiefs have been reporting to Gen. Muhoozi.
All along, Museveni had been sidelining army officers who would not offer their loyalty to Muhoozi. This category comprised of mostly those officers who had participated in the Bush War. Currently, the different strategic positions in the security forces and the army in particular are manned by those officers who adore Gen. Muhoozi. The other group that he (Muhoozi) personally recruited into the army has risen and taken up strategic positions in the security forces. One such officer is the current police chief, Brig. Sabiiti Muzeyi; just forget about the figurehead, Okoth Ochola.
However, one Bush War officer who had excelled and remained standing had been the recently sacked former Police chief, Gen. Kalekyezi. His survival lied in his skillful avoidance of clashing with the Muhoozi Project. That is why his alleged scheming for the presidency was so covertly done under the cover of his overwhelming support for Museveni's hold on power. On the other hand, a close scrutiny on the police force reveals that there is a significant new breed of Gen. Muhoozi loyalists within the police force. Actually, among Gen. Kalekyezi faults was the competition for dominance by the pro-Muhoozi young police officers and those pro-Kalekkyezi. The scheme was being hatched at the time of recruitment and post training placement. The IGG is investigating the same. That's why some gullible Ugandans are still wondering why former KMPC, Frank Mwesigwa was spared in the ongoing crackdown on pro-Kalekyezi cadre officers. No wonder, Gen. Muhoozi recently visited Gen. Kalekyezi at the safe house.
There is no doubt, the current police chief, Brig. Sabiiti Muzeyi will not only clean up the mess but ensure that he streamlines the entire force towards loyalty to Gen. Muhoozi. Just forget about the figurehead, Okoth Ochola. Otherwise, the Muhoozi Project is alive and kicking.
INFORMATION IS POWER AND THE PROBLEM OF UGANDA IS MUSEVENISM
