UGANDA: WAS THE RECENT BLOODBATH AN ATTACK ON BUGANDA KINGDOM??

By CHANGE OF GUARDS

For the last. 35 years, the military dictatorship of Gen. Museveni's has been systematically carrying out s scheme to destroy the Kingdom of Buganda and its people, the Baganda. While it is succeeding on the economic front, it is finding it difficult to achieve progress on the political front. The major setback was felt with the coming on the political scene of a Muganda, Robert Kyagulany a.k.a Bobi Wine who is contesting for the presidency of Uganda in the forthcoming general election slated for January 14, 2021.

Museveni has been sounding war drums thus;

" I have been hearing some people saying 'we shall demonstrate, we will riot.' If you riot we are also here waiting for you.......you can plan whatever you plan, we shall crush you."
Museveni - July 2020

Now, if you hear a Muganda talking: ffe Abaganda, ffe Abaganda, free Abaganda, you know he is an enemy of Baganda number one, and secondly an enemy of Uganda.... and we shall crush those enemies as we have done in the past. You preach your nonsense, we shall answer you by word and if you go beyond word and you want something else, you will also get it. This is not the first time, we have had it before, eeeh we have had this before .....So, I am ready for the debate with the sectarians. It is not enough to shut them up, it is also good to defeat their logic clearly. If they go beyond argument and try to do things, of course we shall deal with them."

Museveni - August 2020 interview with UBC TV

Therefore, the November 18 - 19 bloodbath by Museveni's security forces against innocent civilians that left 54 shot dead on the spot and hundreds sustaining bullet wounds came against the above background. This was confirmed by his Minister of Security, Gen. Elly Tumwine;
"The genocide language that accompanied the violence, where the so-called representatives, I don't know whether they represent Buganda because I'm yet to hear whether the leadership of Baganda are coming out to either own these people or deny them who are threatening other tribes. I am yet to hear a Buganda official saying these people were not speaking on our behalf."

Instead, the Kabaka (King) of Buganda condemned the killings before calling for a quick investigation into the same;
"I would like to tell government that there should be an inquiry into the death of those people. Those who know the history of Uganda will know that in 1945, during the colonial period, there were protests around here and eight people were killed but the government (Colonia) then felt that although only 8 people died, a Commission of Inquiry was set up to investigate the cause of protests and the deaths."

Earlier, the Katikiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda had equally condemned the killings in a fornmal statement that he issued;
"The price of preventing the spread of COVID-19 should not be killing, maiming, torturing or imprisoning innocent people vying for different political offices. Yesterday, we witnessed cases of murder. There were also violent acts against political aspirants. This is unacceptable and the Government should stop the scenes because they do not contribute to the prevailing peace."

The firm stand by the top leaderahip of Buganda Kingdom must have as usual rubbed Museveni the wrong way;

"It is wrong for some groups to only condemn the security forces, but never condemn law breakers."

Therefore, for Museveni and his regime, their victims were Baganda enemies and let whoever is in doubt issue a list of victims. In November 2016, Museveni carried out a similar massacre of the Bakonjo tribe in the Rwenzururu Kingdom that left over 100 dead and hundreds maimed while their king survived by a whisker. At the time, this website warned that Buganda would be next.
