RESIGNATION LETTER

===========

It was a pleasure to serve my country. For God and My Country.

I thank all of you who taught me, challenged me and encouraged me along the way. Today marks around 13 years since I have been sharing information for Uganda and to the world about Uganda. Along the way, I learned a lot. Most of you know that I left Uganda in 1987 and have been living in Canada since then. THEREFORE (we must always have the Therefore), most of what you have seen me share and write about Uganda has been sheer hard work.

Many times, I even had no idea of what was going on. I spent hundreds of thousands of minutes on phones talking to people in Uganda so that I could be updated and learn about my beloved mother home country.

Many times, I was challenged to learn more. Having grown up on the internet, I researched extensively and read a lot and wrote a lot.

Many times, I was accused of not knowing Uganda but for me, Uganda was only one Google search away.

Many times, I got into fights with Ugandans, but I always had it coming. Before meeting Ugandans online, I had a sense of entitlement. I used to think “Come on, it is Martha Leah talking, why not just listen?”

Many times, I threw tantrums and some of you put me in my right place. You see, when you have attended some of the best schools in the world, you grow up entitled to demanding an audience.

Sometimes, even as I was learning from Ugandans about life, I would cut them short and say stupid things like “Do you know I went to Namagunga? Do you know that I am an ICT professional? Do you want me to hack your phone? Do you even have a passport to come get me? Did you know that I also hold Canadian citizenship?”

Ladies and gentlemen, you have taught me humility. I have never been so humbled in my life.

Thank you.

What is next?

  1. Finish the biography about my father, Daniel Nangalama

  2. Finish the book of “Stories from the village, Uganda”

  3. Take care of my children, my family, my health, our health

  4. Research. Write.

  5. Study for the Intellectual Property Exam and pass it. I would like to be a Patent Agent.

One week from today, I will uninstall all the Apps I use to communicate with Uganda. One week is dependent upon when the Ugandan regime unblocks the internet so that all my friends, family, enemies and followers in Uganda get the message that I have resigned from a job you never hired me for, never paid me for and never expected me to do.

In the meantime, and even after I quit, you all have my email and mobile phone.

May this year, 2021, be a blessing to you and your family. May the heavens shower you with blessings and fortunes. May the ancestors hear your crying. May the angels surround you and protect you forever.

PS: The blogs will stay online. I made arrangements for friends to post on the blogs. The FB pages will remain active too. I will no longer be as loud as I have been for the last 8 to 13 years.

I leave you with a quote from Malala Yousafzai: “I raise up my voice-not so I can shout but so that those without a voice can be heard”
