THE CRANES MATCH WITH TAIFA STARS TO DETERMINE THE FUTURE OF UGANDA'S SOCCER.
CHANGE OF GUARDS - Uganda Cranes and Tanzania's Taifa Stars will meet on Sunday, 24th March for the AFCON Qualifiers' match. Uganda has already qualified and it is Tanzania that badly needs either a win or a draw in this match in order to qualify if only the Lesotho - Cape Verde match ends in a draw too.
In September 2018 the two teams ended in a draw in Kampala and while addressing Ugandans, Museveni made this comment;
“I congratulate the Ugandans and also the Tanzanians for the good game which was played yesterday (Saturday) at Namboole. It was good but you (Uganda) had a draw. As you know, I am both Ugandan and Tanzanian, therefore this was very good for me."
Museveni added that he knew that the Ugandans wanted to win against Tanzania, but for him, it was a much better results.
“For me all my countries won… Uganda won and Tanzania won."
Two months later, in November, Museveni met a small group of Uganda Cranes players and Fufa officials at State House in Entebbe. The national team players in attendance were skipper Denis Onyango, Faruku Miya, Joseph Ochaya and Bernard Muwanga. During the meeting, Museveni publicly told them not to loose the March 2019 match to Tanzania.
"Do not lose to Tanzania. As you very well know, Tanzania is also my country but please do not lose that match.”
However, he requested to have an exclusive word with the four Cranes players. He reportedly told them that he would be instructing his team to wire bonuses to their accounts.

What a head of state had to discuss with the four players in the absence of their managers is a matter of well founded speculation. Hopefully, it won't be a match between politics and football.
Watch the space.
INFORMATION IS POWER AND THE PROBLEM OF UGANDA IS MUSEVENISM
