KAGAME SMOKES MUSEVENI OUT OF THE SILENT MODE INTO PLEADING FOR MERCY (Kulajjana)
CHANGE OF GUARDS - "President Museveni asked us not to respond to them through the media like it has always been. Ministers and government agencies responsible will do it using the appropriate channels."
Uganda government Spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo - February 2019.
Since the eruption of a fresh row between Uganda and Rwanda late last month, Uganda's military dictator had maintained silence over the matter. He even ordered his lieutenants to maintain silence. This was because he was aware of how much evidence Rwanda had about his backing of Rwandan dissidents. By choosing silence, he had estimated that Rwanda would also hold back thus saving him the embarrassment.
However, Rwanda has informally been presenting its case with the latest being the meeting between Museveni and Rwanda's dissident RNC top officials. These include the likes of Rujugiro, Gasana and Mukankusi. Rwanda has even gone further by presenting the Ugandan diplomatic passports that were issued to these RNC dissidents. The now panicky Museveni had on March 10, 2019 written to Rwanda's Kagame confessing his meeting with these top RNC dissidents though denying offering them any support.
Museveni’s letter in full below:
"Your Excellency Paul Kagame,
Greetings from the people of Uganda and from myself. I am writing to make you know that by accident, I, at last, had a meeting with a Rwandan who admitted to being a member of the group you told me about — Rwanda National Congress (RNC). This is a lady known as Mukankusi, whom, I am sure you know, but I had never met before.
One of my National Resistance Movement (NRM) contacts kept telling me that there was a Rwandan lady who had some important information to give me and that she wanted to come with somebody known as Gasana, who also had important information..............
All these people left Uganda after only a few days. This was to inform you of these encounters. As I told you when we met, there is no question of Uganda supporting anti-Rwanda elements."
Interestingly, it is the same Museveni who had earlier ordered that responses to Rwanda should not be through the press, that leaked the said letter through his government owned The New Vision newspaper. What if Rwanda choses to make public what revelations that two top rebel FDRL officials made after they were intercepted in Bunagana on their way from Kampala where they are alleged to have been state guests!!!!
Ugandans now know why recently Museveni's army took control of the immigration services.
